Spotlight on Sweet Florals Wedding Invitation

By Shannon - Little Flamingo | August 25, 2011

This ‘sweet florals’ is one of my current favourite wedding invitations. Printed in a thermographic (raised) ink, the vintage inspired floral front is just perfect for a spring or summer garden wedding or even a destination wedding celebration. Blue not your colour? this design is available in a wide range of ink colours to contrast against the bright white card and complement your wedding.

The back of the card is flat printed with your invitation wording and a small floral detail ties in to the front of the card. Simple yet stunningly elegant.

If you would like any more information on this design just visit here: Sweet Florals Wedding Invitation or contact us

Happy Wedding Planning!

Vintage Monogram Pocket Wedding Invitation

By Shannon - Little Flamingo | August 16, 2011

It’s always fun to show some behind the scenes images of invitations in progress. These pocket wedding invitations were created for one of our lovely Sydney based couples Bec and Cam who were married at The Tea Room Gunners Barracks. It’s such a beautiful location and they wanted an invitation design to complement the worldly elegance of the venue. Our pocket invitation with stylish monogram surrounded by the intricate swirl design was the perfect fit.

Bits and pieces all coming together to create Bec and Cam’s wedding invitations… Here we have a cream invitation card with chocolate text and latte coloured design we then back this with a mocha shimmer card before it is inserted into the cream pocket folder. There are 3 insert cards including RSVP and printed envelope, Gift Registry Card and customised map to The Gunners Barracks.

Wanna see the finished product?…

Congratulations Bec and Cam! We look forward to seeing some photos of your wedding day! xx

Peacock Feathers, menus and placecards

By Shannon - Little Flamingo | August 12, 2011

With the days to Kylee and Marks wedding quickly disappearing, it’s time to get their reception stationery organised. Each element is in keeping with the original peacock feather and royal blue theme first introduced through the wedding invitations we created for them.

Personalised placecards and table menus are printed in black using the same fonts from their invitation and then wrapped with a simple double tie in the royal blue satin ribbon from their invitations.

Finally, we created small tags printed with the symbolism of peacock feathers. Next we attached these tags to individual peacock feathers by a simple thread through with the Royal Blue satin ribbon. Have a wonderful celebration Kylee and Mark!!

String Art Wedding Anyone?

By Shannon - Little Flamingo | August 5, 2011

Take a look at this gorgeous start to a wedding invitation I discovered over at Reason to Read. That’s right, it’s created out of string!  Who would have thought that a piece of birch, a bunch of nails and a mountain of string could create such a gorgeous masterpiece?!

and look at that detail!! It was here I started wondering what other modern or wedding inspired works have people created with this form of art made popular in the 1960′s.

How about this sweet string heart found at Dirtybirdiesvintage on Etsy?

or some table numbers found at Oh So Beautiful Paper?

What about your names in string on a sign at your ceremony or reception found at fraufertig

Are you inspired yet? Would like to create your own String Art project? fraufertig has a great step by step tutorial on how to create your own! – and if you do attempt this don’t forget to send me a photo of your unique artwork so you can then help to inspire other readers! Happy Stringing everyone!

What to consider when setting your wedding date

By Shannon - Little Flamingo | July 29, 2011

As soon as you are engaged, friends and family and sometimes even complete strangers are asking you…’have you set a wedding date yet?’ ‘When are you getting married?’ and sometimes it’s enough to make couples find a venue and set a date without thinking about what’s ahead.

Obvious things to consider when planning your wedding date are the season, your work commitments, day of the week and the availability of your venue. But what other factors should you take into consideration when setting your wedding date?

Image: Tim Pascoe Photography

budget – yes, this is a big one, if you have a strict budget, selecting a different day of the week such as a Tuesday or Wednesday to get married can make a lot of difference with the cost of your venue and even some vendors. Sundays, public holidays or long weekends may carry a surcharge and choosing a weekday may mean you can negotiate a discount with your venue or suppliers.

family and bridal party – now, I know it’s your day, however if your maid of honor, bridesmaids or best-man have already planned a holiday or have some other commitments you may find that they will not be able to make your day. Where possible, try and check with your most important guests (not all your guests!) to make sure they will be able to attend before making all the arrangements.

holidays, community events or conventions – you don’t want your guests being caught up in the traffic or unable to find accommodation because of a public celebration, random convention or large sporting event. If you do plan to have your wedding celebration during the same time as another large event, (Tulip Time in the Southern Highlands for instance) make sure you inform your guests of the festivities early. This allows them to book their accommodation well in advance or leave a little earlier so they don’t hit traffic and arrive late to your ceremony!

planning time – try to allow yourselves enough time to properly plan your wedding – without stress! If you only have a short time to plan you may find your preferred venues and suppliers are already booked. If you are planning a destination wedding, remember to allow enough time for your guests to save up for the trip and make the necessary travel and accommodation arrangements so they can be there to celebrate with you. Simple Save the Date cards are perfect for letting guests know of your celebration early and work well even if you don’t have all the finer details arranged.

honeymoon – if you are planning to take your honeymoon straight after your wedding, consider where you are planning to go and what the weather will be like when you get there. You don’t want to be planning for a romantic week on the beach, only to find out it’s wet season when you get there!

Once you have decided on a suitable date for your wedding, tick it off your long list of things to do and vendors to arrange, take a breath grab a coffee, hot chocolate (or maybe even a wine or two) and then start on the next task on your list! . . . Happy Friday! and have a lovely weekend everyone – x
