Well, with a lot of baking inspiration arriving to us last week, I had to do a little weekend baking.

There wasn’t a lot of spare time on the weekend but I did manage to whip up some Banana bread and since I can’t share a slice of the banana bread with you lovely readers, I thought I would create a FREE muffin or cupcake topper printable for you instead! YAY!

Banana bread never lasts long in our house, even if it’s nicely packaged! Yesterday I baked in the blue loaf case from Emerald and Ella - so cute!

And a couple of individual muffin size with little cake topper  decoration just perfect for sharing . . .

Download your FREE cupcake topper template here. All you need to do for this easy DIY is print out the downloaded sheet onto your favourite colour paper or card and use a circle punch or scissors to cut them out! easy! (I used a 1-inch scalloped edge punch)

Once you have cut them out attach each sign to a toothpick with a little piece of tape. If you want them double sided just attach a cut-out to both sides of the toothpick with double sided tape!

Add a little ribbon bow (I used a 3mm ribbon) around the top, pop them into your cake or cupcakes and you have some cute little cake toppers!! – Enjoy! 

Today I took an adventure out into the cold (seriously why is it still so cold!!) anyway, my adventure took me to the Little Flamingo letterbox where I discovered a lovely little white box with my name on it! We get lots of stock deliveries but I was very curious about this little white box.

When I got back to the studio I noticed the box had come from one of my favourite stores Emerald and Ella I quickly opened the box to see what goodies awaited me inside! yay! At the same time I was thinking to myself – ‘I don’t remember ordering anything from them last week, I really must stop ordering things if I can’t keep track!’

I not only very surprised but VERY excited! The ever sweet Jane from Emerald and Ella had sent me a gorgeous little care package filled with the most delicious looking raspberry candy stripe straws I have ever seen! (there is now one in my water glass!) But it doesn’t stop there - Cupcake wrappers! Really pretty pink ones! take a look!

I can feel a batch of chocolate cupcakes in my near future (to be shared of course!!) Maybe even a delightful afternoon tea party with home made lemonade (if the weather ever warms up!) – OOooo So excited! and a HUGE thank you to Jane for making not only my mailbox and I happy but for bringing the studio a little baking and party inspiration!  xx

Today, is our final day showing Kris’s birthday party and it’s is all about the dessert or sweets table… do I hear a YUU-UMMMM!! Who couldn’t love a table filled with sweet delectable goodies!

This dessert table continued with the green and yellow stripes along with Kris’ birthday monogram for the garland. The table was filled with all the sweet treats Kris loves most…from vanilla slice, twisties and flavoured licorice to crazy sour lollies, boston bun and an assortment of Jelly Belly jelly beans (with menu of course!)… Oh! and how could I forget the white chocolate birthday cake! (a piece of that would go really nicely with my cup of tea right now)- enjoy! x

Today, we continue on from yesterdays post for Kris’ birthday celebration. As the family were coming for birthday drinks there would be no sit down meal. With this in mind we created a savoury table so no-one had to worry about running back and forth to the kitchen throughout the party and everyone could relax and enjoy it all without the expense of a caterer.

We carried the monogram and colour scheme through the table setting, creating placecards to let guests know what food they had to choose from and if it was one of Kris’s favourite foods.

The drinks didn’t miss out either, they were also featured Kris’ birthday monogram with matching drinks menu

We LOVE cupcakes at Little Flamingo. So I am glad we don’t have one of those fancy cupcake outlets near our office or we would be doing disastrous things to our diet!

Cupcakes and getting married go hand in hand. Whether it’s for the Kitchen Tea, Hens Party, or Wedding Day itself, there are plenty of chances to indulge in these tiny sweet morsels. Taking it one step further in the cute and colourful stakes is to have a candy dessert buffet, with a cupcake tower as the centrepiece. A popular alternate to serving dessert, the candy buffet is sure to please sweet-tooths. There are a few tricks however to making it succeed….

1. Candy Buffets and children are not a good mix, unless you want super-hyped up kids tearing around the reception. It’s hard to restrict the sweets to after dinner when you have hungry little people whose parents’ attention is elsewhere.

2. Keep the style and design visually compatible with your overall theme and stationery. To avoid the candy shop look, pick one or two colours and choose lollies to match.

3. Make sure someone is in charge of tidying up the area. Small lollies spill easily and can end up looking messy especially when crunched into the floor.

4. Provide scoops and paper bags so people can take home a goody bag to enjoy later.

I love baking, being in the kitchen with flour, sugar and chocolate everywhere! Making such a mess to hopefully end up creating something yummy that I can share. I am not a seasoned baker, but I saw these gorgeous spring chick pops on Bakerella and I just HAD to try and make them for easter this year. Check out Bakerella here if you would like to try them too.

I made mine with a chocolate mudcake in the middle with chocolate cream cheese to bind all the crumbs together and a white chocolate outer coating. I couldn’t get an edible marker in time so for their eyes I had to use blue nonpareils (100′s and 1000′s) attached by a little of the white chocolate instead (they look a lot better with the black eyes, a bit less spaced out, zombie looking!). They can be fairly time consuming, but all the little characters you can create, along with the expressions on your guests faces as they see them make it all worthwhile.

When making these chick pops don’t just think easter for these cute little guys, they would also be really cute for a birthday party or baby shower! Now…off to find the remaining chick pops… yumm!

I love baking, and this year I had decided to create a gingerbread house! First I started off with finding the perfect gingerbread recipe for the job. Then as this project got out of hand and our kitchen a disaster zone filled with sugar,  Nicole and I decided we would build a sprawling gingerbread residence. After all our recipe testing and gingerbread people baking, and with all the other preparations we had to do for Christmas we ran out of time to create this gingerbread mansion and so have placed this into next years to do list.

However, I have just discovered these most adorable mini gingerbread houses that you hang off the side of your coffee or hot chocolate cup from the very clever Megan on her Not Martha blog. Have a look at these totally adorable gingerbread houses! I think I will be scrapping the gingerbread mansion and creating these gorgeous little bites next christmas! These would be so adorable at a christmas party when serving up tea and coffee. A great guest favor at a December wedding or even as part of a place setting, try piping your guest names onto the roof of the house – The ideas are endless!
